 The "Fresh Products’ Packaging Center in Kenscoff" was inaugurated on Wednesday, June 26, 2013 in Drouette, Kenscoff. USAID, through the Feed the Future West/WINNER project, in collaboration with the Ministry of Agriculture, Natural Resources and Rural Development (MARNDR), and the Ministry Delegate for the Promotion of Peasantry (PDPP), helped fund the plant. The primary beneficiary is the Organization of Local Integrated Agricultural Development (ODAI-L).

The Ministry of Agriculture, Natural Resources and Rural Development (MARNDR), through its Director General, Mr. Pierre Guy André Lafontant, and USAID launched the construction of the Rural Center for Sustainable Development (CRDD) of Montrouis on Tuesday, June 25, 2013. The ceremony was attended by representatives of local authorities, the private sector and community groups from St. Marc, Montrouis, Arcahaie and Cabaret.

In his speech, the Director General of the Ministry of Agriculture focused on the opportunity offered by this project (jointly implemented by the MARNDR and the Feed the Future West/WINNER project), to applaud the partnership between the U.S. and the Haitian governments. "This center has a dual mission to train local farmers and to popularize modern agricultural practices among the farming communities," said Mr. Pierre Guy Lafontant.

Feed the Future West/WINNER’s greenhouse arouses the curiosity of many visitors at the technology, energy, and environment exhibition 

For the second time in a row, the Feed the Future West/WINNER project participated in the technology, energy, and environment exhibition “E2TECH”, held at the Karibe Hotel from May 29 to June 2, 2013. With the theme of "The future is Now," the show, organized every two years by the Haitian Association for the Development of Information Technology and Communication (AHTIC), is "a forum to show the Haitian people the latest technological advances in the world", said Mr. Reynold Guerrier, President of AHTIC.

Introduction of eight US Government grant recipients to the Haitian press by the US Ambassador in Haiti

Eight Haitian university students, who received awards from the American government, were introduced to the press on Friday May 24, 2013.  The ceremony was held at the United States Embassy in Haiti, in the presence of the US Ambassador, Ms Pamela White, and the Deputy Director of USAID in Haiti, Steve Olive.

 During the course of the ceremony, the students were able to present the results of their Masters’ research.

 Joseph Béneche, Artur Bonicet, Ronald Cadémus, Lidwine Hypolite, Dakson Sanon, Réginald Toussaint, Isnel Pierreval and Pascale François spent about three years at the University of Florida in Gainsville, after receiving grants funded by USAID via its Feed the Future West/WINNER project.
