The Coopérative des Paysans Chanpyon des Matheux (COPACMA), soon to be a shareholder in the Centre de Transformation Agro-Industriel (CETAI—Archaie S.A.) ; a 2.7 million dollar processing unit

The business community witnessed an important event with the signing of a memorandum of understanding (MOU) between the Coopérative des Paysans Chanpyon des Matheux (COPACMA) and the Centre de Transformation Agro-Industriel CETAI Arcahaie, S.A., an agricultural processing unit. The unit will produce snacks, juice and packaged beans and plantains.

On Thursday, December 27, 2012 the MOU was signed at the Feed the Future West/WINNER's central office in the presence of its director, Mr. Jean Robert Estimé, Mr. Carlo Darbouze representing CETAI, Mr. Samuel Févrius its president and two other representatives. One the objectives of the agreement is to define the conditions of the partnership between the two institutions.

Signing of a half a million dollar contract between the Coopérative des Paysans Chanpyon des Matheux (COPACMA) and the Compagnie Haïtienne de Production Agricole (CHPA)

On Friday December 21, 2012 the Coopérative des Paysans Chanpyon des Matheux (COPACMA) signed a five hundred thousand dollars (500,000) contract with Compagnie Haïtienne de Production Agricole (CHPA). COPACMA will have to deliver 250 metric tons of beans (75 tons of red beans and 175 tons of black beans) to CHPA a the end of the bean campaign. CHPA had already signed a contract with Coopérative des Paysans Chanpyon du Cul-de-Sac (COPACPLA).

The signing took place at Feed the Future West/WINNER's central office in the presence of its director, Mr. Jean-Robert Estimé. Mr. Estimé expressed his satisfaction and congratulated both parties for establishing a very constructive partnership; « it is only a beginning, which must and will continue other products; in particular corn, rice, and others."

Workshop on vertical and protected agriculture financing: The Feed the Future West/WINNER project listens to financial institutions’ propositions

On December 19, 2012 The Feed the Future West/WINNER and HIFIVE projects organized a workshop on financial opportunities for protected and vertical agriculture. The workshop took place at the Karibe Convention Center.

The workshop brought together financial institutions, the private sector, and farmer associations assisted by the FTF West/WINNER project. The workshop had two aims: to present the progress made by farmers who, thanks to the technical assistance received from the FTF West/WINNER project, are currently building their own greenhouses, and to open the stage for affordable credit options that could benefit agricultural producers that would like to invest in this particular technique of agricultural production. This also represents a great opportunity for the financial sector and for vendors of materials.

Signing of a two (2) million dollar contract for the sale of beans between the Chanpyon Peasant Cooperative  in the Cul-de-Sac plain (Coopérative des paysans Chanpyon/COPACPLA) and the Haitian Company for Agricultural Production (Compagnie Haïtienne de Production Agricole/CHPA)

On Friday, December 14, 2012 and in the presence of the Feed The Future West/WINNER's Deputy Director, Mr. Mario Kerby, and several farmers, the president of COPACPLA, Mr. Jeanjean Ermilus, and CHPA's Vice-president, Mr. David Brant, signed a contract of more than two (2,000,000) million dollars for the sale of agricultural products. The contract was signed at the Rural Center for Sustainable Development of Bas Boen. The products to be sold under this contract are black and red beans.
